Microsoft strong arms a student and looses.

I love these kinds of stories. Seems that Microsoft tried to sue a student for $143 and some change because be purchased an educational version of XP and Office for $60, and sold it on eBay for more…But there is more to it than that…he was denied a refund from the Store and Microsoft.

BTW Zamos, you have a choice, it is called Linux.

“I asked him what he wanted from me,” says Zamos. “He said I needed to pay restitution. I said I had nothing to pay with, and he said, ‘You have a car.’ Yeah, like they’re gonna take my 2002 Ford Escort. I looked it up anyway, and they can’t take your car unless it’s collateral.”

My Ubuntu CDs Arrived!

Well, I am a fan of Ubuntu Linux. I have been looking for something to use instead of Fedora. Not that anything is wrong with Fedora, I just wanted to try something different. Ubuntu has been everything I was looking for. Easy to install, use, and I can get my hands dirty when I want.

Well I recently read that they would ship you for free a copy of Ubuntu Linux on CD. So I took them up on it. Today I received a package that contained 10 packs that had an Install CD and a Live CD each.

That is pretty awesome, and that is why I like Linux so much. Not just for Gnome, KDE, bash, flexibility, but for the sense of sharing that Linux promotes.

Summer Brooks from Dragonpage.com on Technorama!

Last night was a lot of fun. Summer Brooks from Dragonpage.com was kind enough to join us for the entire show on Technorama. Over at Dragonpage.com, they produce 3 podcasts. Slice or Sci-fi, for mainstream news of Movies and TV, Cover to Cover dealing with print media, and Wingin’ It, which is whatever comes up and she works as producer, and fact checker.

What started as an interview turned more into a chat. It was a lot of fun to do, and I am sure a lot of fun to listen to.

So go and have a listen!

HOW-TO: Laptop resurrection and upgrade

Interesting… Hack-a-day always has a lot of cool hacks, but this one peaked my interested.

Read on about this guy resurrecting his laptop, especially the part about his battery.

HOW-TO: Laptop resurrection and upgrade – hack a day – www.hackaday.com _
I have been known to keep old hardware alive, long past it’s use-by date. Over the last year I acquired a couple of laptops. One of them had been smashed up (I think someone sat on it..) and the other got a drink spilled in to the keyboard. So I ended up with enough parts to make a cheap laptop.

Walmart hacked?

Looks fixed by now…but that is funny.

Looks like when you search for anything at walmart.com you only get Bibles… Hacked or is this what we’ve come to.. I want an iPod, no you want a Bible!
