Google Chrome OS Available? NOT!!
Apparently someone is trying to pull a fast one on all us geeks. Even I was duped. I saw a notice that the Google Chrome OS was available and immediatly went to download it. I did take pause for a sec and notice that this was posted on a Google Sites page, “sites.google.com”, however that didn’t really stop me.
I started the download and tweeted about it. I started getting tweets back that it was a fake! So beware if you see this notice about it’s beta release.
Twitter abuzz with news of a beta Google Chrome OS. Yep, it’s a hoax.
Gizmodo posted news of a leaked Chrome OS download with a number of popular open source applications including OpenOffice, and GIMP preinstalled.Naturally when a site like Gizmodo, posts something this bloggable, you’d expect geeks to stop whatever they’re doing and get downloading. You would be right. Twitter’s lost the plot and other respected sites including the likes of Daring Fireball reported the story (albeit inquiringly).
One look at the URL should have rung alarm bells, but you should note – this is definitely NOT a Google Chrome OS. The site has been around two weeks and all it is is GNOME with a Chrome browser, and if you’re still not convinced, the footer says “Chrome OS is not related to Google. Service provided by SUSE Studio. See the license.â€
Now spread the word to these lot.
365 Days of Danboard
This a very creative 365 project of pictures this teenager has made and posted on Flickr. I like how even though it is a “Doll”, for lack of a better word, it is conveying emotion with nothing more than a box as a head and a minimal face. Well Done!

7th Son: 7 Days Cameo
Our Buddy, Author and friend of Technorama J.C. Hutchins is about to get his book 7th Son: Descent published by St. Martin’s Press later in October. To celebrate and get everyone ready J.C. started the daily podcast called 7th Son: 7 Days. For 7 days he is podcasting a day in the life of each of the main characters in the book giving you a little insight on who these guys are.
Well, I found out today that Chuck and I have a fleeting cameo. It is small, but cool. J.C. told me “if you blink you’ll miss itâ€. I want to see if any of our listeners of Technorama can spot it. Go and subscribe to 7th Son: 7 Days and find our cameo and be the first to call in at 206-222-2428 and let us know. We will feature you on the next Technorama. Some episodes have already aired and so you may have to download the past ones to find it. Good Luck.

C.A. Fire claims a Podcasters House
Hey guys – if you haven’t heard Doug (Dr. Floyd) from the Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd lost his house in the CA Fires.. and they’re taking up special donations to help him out until he can get his insurance money – http://www.doctorfloyd.com/doug/
Doug is currently staying with family and is in great health, but could use some funds to help him until his insurance comes through. Even if you have no money to spare, getting the word out to people who could give would mean the world!
Anything you can do to help spread the word to help out a fellow podcaster would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Grumpy Gus and Peanuts
If you don’t know already, I have started a webcomic called Grumpy Gus and Peanuts.
I have been drawing comics for a long time. I got my start in High School actually (surprise) but I never really did anything with them. I have a lot of characters that I have made in the past and I am sure you will see them crop up in this strip.
Grumpy Gus and Peanuts is about two older guys that have been friends for ages and now live together to pull resources so that they can have a decent place to live.
Gus is the been there, done it all type curmudgeon that knows everything, is not afraid to tell you what he thinks, and of course he is also an adventurer in his own mind.
Peanuts is his long time friend that has been tagging along for the ride, constantly being made to do what he normally wouldn’t.
Head on over and check it out…and Subscribe…I hope you enjoy.
