The Friends in Tech podcast group have put together a Christmas Special for Geeks. This is not your Fathers Christmas Carol and if you are a geek at all you will find something in here for you.
A Geek Christmas Carol
Finally, it is here, at least it will be here Monday! This Christmas I have had the great opportunity to work with my friends with The Friends in Tech podcast group, and create something that I am very proud of.
Over the last 4 weeks we have created from disparate regions of America utilizing the internet, and true grit … A Geek Christmas Carol. It has turned out better than I could have hoped for. Everyone stepped up, and turned in quality work.
A Geek Christmas Carol, is the classic tale of Scrooge facing his life’s decisions and changing things for the better….but If you are a geek at all there is something a little more for you in there.
So to find out more visit and subscribe to the Friends in Tech website.
A Geek Christmas Carol is being Released Sunday Dec, 18th.
Google Safe Browsing for Firefox
Cool! Here is an anti-phishing tool for Firefox from Google…I think that this is great, because sometimes it isn’t easy to detect phishing sites.
Howard Stern: King of the Future..Not.
I will start off by saying that I am not the biggest Howard Stern fan…That said, do I think that his move is a watershed movement against censorship or a shift from traditional radio? No. That movement started last year with podcasting…
Last year, we saw a big explosion of podcasts from people that want to be heard, and as a listener I can choose what I want to listen to. Be it Science, News, Humorous or Explicit, it is available for everyone to hear, world wide. Not just Satellite radio subscribers only in the US. I say that is the thumbing the nose to censorship and a shift from traditional radio.
I am sure that Howard Stern will be entertaining without his constraints to regular radio markets…but think of this…Why pay for Satellite Radio to listen to Howard Stern and all the100’s of other channels and shows that you will never listen to (You can’t there just isn’t that much time) when you can take that monthly payment, get an mp3 player, and support some podcasters and pick and choose the Free content that is available to you. I will dare say that podcasts are more entertaining, because the people that make them want to…and are not just getting paid to do it.
Howard Stern: King of the Future
Will Howard Stern’s rebirth on satellite radio eventually represent a pivotal shift in societal limits on censorship? The pervasiveness of material that historically has been deemed objectionable has proved almost impossible to avoid in an increasingly digitized world. Already, some studies claim that exposure to readily accessible online pornography has fundamentally altered youths’ attitudes toward sexual behavior.
How Can You Be Scared of Santa?
Some of these pictures crack me up…especially the poor Santas that look like they have had it, need a drink or already had too many.

Linux Rocks!
Specifically, Imagemagick Rocks. I just re-sized and converted 225 Tiffs to Gifs in about 1 minute or less. Then I wrote a script to normalize the filenames to the standard I was shooting for in about and ran it in 2 minutes.
I just had to throw that out there today. 😉
Three Wishes with Bill Gates?
Pretty cool… Friday night it looks like a 10 year old that was granted three wishes on the tv show of the same name, got to hang with Bill at the MS Campus.
The show aires Firday Night.

iTunes Signature Maker
This is pretty cool! It takes how ever many songs you tell it out of your iTunes and makes a “Signature” of your music.
It takes little samples and overlays, and strings them together to make a wav file that reflects your music library.
Here is my 60sec one. Now this is off of my laptop and it has mostly sweepers and ID’s for my podcast, Technorama.
Make yourself one.

You Know Those Christmas Lights everyone emails?
I think that everyone with an internet connection and email have probably seen the video of the Christmas Light show with the rocking music. I mean it is the hotest thing going in email since, “Meslissa”, or “I Love you”.
Anyway, because of the Big Media Coverage, it has caused so much attention that everyone wants to see it…and it is all fun and games until someone gets hurt.
Read the article and if you haven’t seen the video watch it at the link below.
