I found this post in the Tivo Community forums that has a lot of cheat codes for the Tivo. The sorting my Now Playing list is exactly what I have been wanting. Now if I can just figure out what the “Window” button is on my remote. (Picture in Picture?)

Fedora Core 2 has arrived!
I have to say that as with all previous versions of linux that Redhat has put out, it has consistantly gotten better as time went on, and Fedora Core 2 is no exception. I installed it on two machines, one being a Dell D400 Laptop, and have had no problems… except with SambaFS or now called CIFS.
My problem was that I was trying to mount a Windows share from my new Fedora box, and I couldn’t. No matter how I set up the command. I was getting an ERROR 13 Permission Denied. I was getting frustrated…and finally I got the answer, buried under the scattered text of several message boards was it. My machine needed a kernel update. Once I updated the kernel to 2.6.6-1.374 from the stock kernel that came with FC2, mounting worked perfectly. I’m sure that that kernel will be released shortly, but if you are looking for it, I got it from the development branch on the Fedora Download Server.
I am just putting this out there in case someone else has the same problem.
Other than that, FC2 works as advertised. BTW Props go out the all the guys working thier butts off to put this thing together. Thank You.
That’s not a knife….
I often tought that airport security probably went a little overboard confiscating tweezers, and nail clippers and such…but check this out.
Helix Player
Looks like the Helix Player is now fully open source.
Check out this article on Slashdot.
Nautilus Spatial Mode
Colin Charles wrote an article called The Spatial Way talking about how the new Nautilus works in Gnome 2.6.
It took me a day or so to get used to it, and I found that I actually like it better. It is kind of the way that windows explorer worked early on, when you open a folder it opens another explorer window.
I know that they have shortcuts to close the parent windows, however I would like to suggest another shortcut. I think that a SHIFT-click on the X in the top right corner should close the current window and all parents. (I used that a lot in the old style Windows) I may just head on over to Bugzilla for Gnome and suggest that.
UPN Renews ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’
I saw this on slashdot.org today. Looks like Enterprise is sticking around a bit longer. I was afraid that the show was going down the big wormhole in the sky, but I guess not.
This whole past season has been a story arc about the xindi and how they plan on destroying earth, because humans apparently will destroy them in the future. I was getting a bit tired of the whole thing to the point of asking if cancellation was the best thing.
I believe that they should have made the story arc for just half of the season or something, however the last 5 episodes though have really picked up steam, and I have really enjoyed em. I also see that they are letting Archer become a little more Kirk-like and stepping away from the whole P.C. thing which is something that I couldn’t stand about Voyager.
I think that the writing is good, and I like the premise and the cast…but lets remember all of the other series needed a little time to find thier sea, uh…space legs. So I for one am happy that they are staying around.
Windows Tweaking Guide
Over at Osnews.com they had a link pointing to TweakHound’s Super XP Tweaking Guide. Apparently this is an evolving guide, and it is at version 5 now. It has a lot of tips on making your system faster and more secure.
Just looking over some of the stuff, a lot I already new, and some things that it recommended was new information to me.
Neverball
The other day I downloaded The OpenCD. They had just released version 1.4 and I was interested to see what software that they installed provided on it. (Very handy BTW)
After some looking around I found a game called Neverball. It is like putt putt meets marble madness. It is a lot of fun, and free. I spent a couple hours playing this thing. You probably will too…
