Look What I Found
On Technorama, we have been talking about Steampunk for a while now and I can’t help it. I am strangly fascinated with the designs that people dream up. If you don’t know, Steampunk is the now popular design style of modern day gadgets into Victorian era English style. Somewhat like the design and style of the show the Wild Wild West where they had all this cool spy gadgets in the old west.
I saw this over at Shorpy, and had to share. Shorpy is ” a blog about old photos and what life a hundred years ago was like: How people looked and what they did for a living, back when not having a job usually meant not eating.” The Blog is a lot of fun to follow, and I highly recommend putting it in your feedreader.

While out at the Podcast and New Media expo this last year, I was talking to Darusha Wehm about my plans for a novel that I wanted to write. Well, after the expo Darusha remembered about my idea to write, and told me about the NaNoWriMo (National Write a Novel Month).
NaNoWriMo is more of a personal challenge than anything to write a 50,000 word novel with in the month of November. The describe it as, “a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.”
So, I had already started writing (only about 500 words) when she told me about NaNoWriMo, so I stopped and waited for Nov 1st to start. So far I have to say it is fun. I find my self driven to write, and have a goal to work towards.
Now, will I make the 50,000 word goal? Dunno, but I am really trying to get there. My main objective besides trying to hit the 50,000 word mark is to at least write everyday in november. If I can do that…I felt like I won.
Thanks Darusha for pointing this out to me.
