Looking back on the Windows95 launch 10 years ago…I remember all those people waiting in line to purchase it like it was a Star Wars movie or something….

Not everything related to the Windows 95 launch went well. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that a local CompUSA store found that their cash registers crashed at midnight, forcing eager customers to wait ninety minutes before the problem could be resolved. The cause: A bug in the cash register software which had lain undiscovered because the store had never stayed open past midnight before!

Timing is beautiful, and there were several laugh-out-loud clip choices (for me, at least). Warning ahead of time: anyone who chooses to denigrate the actual gameplay shown (“those weren’t very impressive kills”) on our forum will be mocked mercilessly by me – this montage is NOT about the masterful play, it’s about the great matchup between gameplay and Simpson snippets. Calling Doctor Floyd!

Welcome to another edition of “Kreg’s: How’d I Miss That!”

My buddy Chuck Tomasi whom I co-host Technorama with, pointed me to Doctor Floyd. I am kicking myself in the rear trying to figure out how this one got by me. This podcast is like crossing Jimmy Neutron with Rocky and Bullwinkle. It is short, about 3 – 5 minutes each, and funny. It is done in the style like an old serial radio broadcast.

Season 3 starts Monday August 1st, but to catch up Seasons 1 and 2 are available for download off of thier website. Since the episodes are short, you can buzz through each season in about 30 minutes.

Definitely worth listening to.
