Look What I Found
I just received my copy of JPG Magazine, and I love it. It is a magazine with photographer submitted photos for submission, and people vote on them to get them in the printed in the magazine. Very Cool.
Here is my Submission…if you feel so inclined, please vote on it.
This is a site I found through digg. It is several collections of old photos that are organized into themes. The link originally pointed to some color photos of England from around 1890, However, I moved around and found that there are a lot of Old color and B&W photos that are captivating. Some dating from late 1800’s to 1950s.
The other day in Charlotte, NC the fog was out and what was interesting about it was that from where I work, it was below me.

In Rock Hill, SC .. Downtown they have had these lights up that are not too flashy, but are just right to set the mood.
I went down this last weekend and took some pictures. I tried playing with exposure times and even to get some pics of the blue lights, I used a neutral density filter. It was tough to take them and have them look right.
Simply Awesome.
I saw this via Hack-a-day. It is a pinhole camera that you put together and it resembles a real 35mm camera. It was originally printed in a magazine and you follow the instructions and create your camera. I thought that this was a especially worthy hack considering what you can do when you have very little to work with.

During the 1970s, magazines published in Communist Czechoslovakia were controlled by the state, like the majority of other enterprises. Very few good magazines were available and were difficult to get hold of, so people would borrow and exchange them when given the opportunity. This also applied to magazines aimed at young people, which was probably one of the reasons why almost everyone from my generation, when we get on to the subject of pinhole cameras, has fond memories of the cut-out paper camera known as Dirkon*, published in 1979 in the magazine ABC mladých techniků a pÅ™ÃÂrodovÄ›dců [An ABC of Young Technicians and Natural Scientists].
I have been wanting to put up a photoblog for sometime, and it is finally up.
I have been taking pictures for a while, and now that I have a good Digital setup I am going to try to tackle more. I am learning so any constructive feedback is appreciated.
In Rock Hill, SC (my home town) there are a lot of great landscapes, buildings and mills that I have been wanting to photograph for a long time, and that is what I am mostly going to share here, but I don’t want to limit it to just that..So who knows what will show up.

This is utter garbage. I just got a Nikon D70 and I am loving it…just to find out recently that they started farting around and pulling a Microsoft by encrypting the whitebalance information for RAW formatted image so that only Nikon’s software can work with it. So this effectivly locks out third party RAW converters or Open source applications too without risking DMCA litigation. I don’t use Photoshop or Nikon Capture. I use Gimp. I am getting tired of the out of no where “gotchas” that is a source of income for someone…Come on Nikon, this is how children act. I may just go get a Canon camera next.

Not about the hardware, I am loving my D100, but this sucks rocks.Such idiotic games with encrypted file formats are not something we need in this century. It’s my own business what software I use to open my RAW photos, why should Nikon decide for me? This sucks for all the free software projects that have support for NEF-format. I rather wish Nikon would concentrate on making the best cameras instead of playing power games with Adobe.
This looks like it will be a great resource if you are into photography of any sort.
