Calling Doctor Floyd!

Welcome to another edition of “Kreg’s: How’d I Miss That!”

My buddy Chuck Tomasi whom I co-host Technorama with, pointed me to Doctor Floyd. I am kicking myself in the rear trying to figure out how this one got by me. This podcast is like crossing Jimmy Neutron with Rocky and Bullwinkle. It is short, about 3 – 5 minutes each, and funny. It is done in the style like an old serial radio broadcast.

Season 3 starts Monday August 1st, but to catch up Seasons 1 and 2 are available for download off of thier website. Since the episodes are short, you can buzz through each season in about 30 minutes.

Definitely worth listening to.

Battlestar Galactica…More than you ever need to know.

Man it is good to be a scifi geek…Tonight starts the Second season of the current Battlestar Galactica series, and I cannot wait.

What’s that… you missed the first season? Well..You can get caught up easily with a little help from Wikipedia (See link below).

By The Way….Don’t forget to subscribe to the Battlestar Galactica Podcast to get insider commentary from producer Ron Moore on the show. Also, off of thier main website, I just noticed that David Eick is providing a Video Blog on the production of the episodes of the show and they have last seasons finale available to watch!

This shows me once again that these guys are working the fans, and giving them want.

Battlestar Galactica (2003) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This new series was promoted as a “re-imagining” of the Universal Studios late-1970s movie and television series Battlestar Galactica. It was not simply a remake of the original but a new direction taken from the same original premise, analogous to a “reboot” in comic books.

Fan Films, To boldly go…

In my never ending quest to find something more…something other than the 2 year release cycles of my favorite movie franchises…I have found that Fan films are alive and well on the Internet.

Last night on Technorama (the podcast I co-host), I talked about Fanfilms. I mentioned several really good home made productions. Grayson (Robin is Avenging Batmans death, and is faced with a conspiracy), BatMan : Dead End (A mix of Scifi and Batman) Troops and others…You can find links to all of those at the Technorama Site.

Now something that I forgot to mention…Star Trek fan films. There are some interesting ones coming down the pipe.
Over at New Voyages, they are producing episodes as if it was the forth season in the TOS time era. They have recast Kirk, Spock, and Bones (before you flip out, it is pretty well done) and the set and costumes look great. I just read that Walter Koeing is reprising his role as Checkov in an up coming one…

Now also over at New Voyages they have a links page that links to other Star Trek Fan projects. Some of note I would like to point you in the direction of…
Star Trek: Intrepid
Starship Execter
Also of interest… is Hidden Frontier. I looks like they actually have 6 seasons of episodes already. Set in the TNG era, it looks like they sacrificed building their own sets, and did a lot of green/blue screen. I will have to watch a few. Something else that I thought odd. If I am not mistaken, the theme music is from Galaxy Quest. Now, wasn’t Galaxy Quest sort of a spoof on Star Trek? Ironic.
Anyway, there is plenty here to spend a rainy day looking at.
BTW Got something interesting you like as far as Fan Films go, let me know.

Obi-Wan, Here I Come!

Only about 10 hours until I go see the final installment to the Star Wars movies.

Seems like only yesterday that my parents took me to see Star Wars on their anniversary, and I could almost wish hard enough to make a Lightsaber appear out of thin air.

Star Trek Enterprise : Warp Factor Zip

That sucks. I Liked the show, then disliked the show, then Liked it again only to have the black hole ripped out from under me.

It stinks that the show is gone, because the last season was getting really good. This last episode I liked because it took me back a bit with the next gen characters Riker and Troi. I thought it was a nice touch with that and the holodeck and all.

Oh well, Paramount has nobody to blame but thier writers…Season 3 did the show in for a lot of folks.
